Who We Are

Mufasa’s Pride “The Pride of My Father” is a divinely inspired and formulated community base program for urban adolescent males.  God gave the vision for this program to Hondre’ Outley, who then sought the support of his long time friend Cornelius Wright Jr. to develop Mufasa’s Pride.  With divine inspiration, passion, determination and a heart for the youth of today, Hondre’ and Cornelius created this dynamic and impactful program for urban males.

Mufasa’s Pride has been serving Houston and the surrounding communities since 2010. The goal of Mufasa’s Pride is to equip young men with tools to be positive, powerful and purposeful servant leaders of tomorrow.

Our Leader

Message from the Executive Director:

Derrion Albert, a 16-year old young man, lost his life to a senseless act of violence between rival gangs on September 24, 2009 in Chicago, Illinois. He was not a part of either gang, but merely got caught in the middle of the gang warfare on his way home from school. God used his life and that tragedy as a catalyst for change. It was during this period that God began to speak to me about the lives of our urban youth.  This tragedy reignited my passion and desire for urban males in our society to succeed and thrive into adulthood.  I enlisted the aid of a dear friend, Cornelius Wright Jr. and together we founded what has become Mufasa’s Pride - The Pride of My Father.

Mufasa’s Pride - A Boys Rites of Passage Program, was designed to impact the lives of young urban males of today.  My team and I labored many hours researching and developing a curriculum, as well as formulating logistics to make Mufasa’s Pride a reality. With the blessing and support of my pastor, Rev. Remus Wright, Pastor of The Fountain of Praise Church, I knew without a doubt that God’s favor was on The Pride! As a result, have been blessed to partner with The Fountain of Praise Church, where Mufasa’s Pride is currently housed to this day. Through God's vision and provision, we are actively making a difference in the lives of young men.
